In their quest for total reliability, the watchmakers at Jaeger-LeCoultre master all the facets of horological know-how, including the manufacture of the escapement components, which are essential to the precision of a mechanical movement. No watch leaves the Manufacture (except for watches fitted with the JLC Calibre 101 movement) without undergoing 1,000 hours of trial testing. The precision, power-reserve, water-resistance, functions, resistance to temperature and shocks are tested to ensure that the finished watch is fit to face the rigors of everyday life. An engraving or seal testifies that the watch has successfully passed this examination, declaring it ready to be a family heirloom for generations to come.
